The Police Officers Wives Association, POWA, Section of the Computer Village, Ikeja, Demolished

The Lagos State Government has refuted the rumor going around like a bushfire in the harmattan that, the portion of the computer village being demolished was ordered by the peoples’ Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

A media statement by the state government and signed by Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, affirmed that “Lagos State Government has nothing to do with the demolition at Computer Village in Ikeja”.

Omotoso clarified the ownership of the portion being demolished by stating that, “the structure is owned by the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), which ordered its demolition”.

The statement however identified the purveyors of the damaging rumor as “opportunistic ethnic chauvinists who will always relish in vacuous propaganda” as a subtle way to continue fanning the embers of discord among the peace-loving and patriotic Lagosians.

According to the state government in its statement, peddlers of such unfounded rumor were deliberately “fueling their fiendish mission; they will always fail in dividing Lagosians”, Omotoso stated.
