Double Debuts: book launch, aviation Hall of Fame induction, will all come alive tomorrow…

The maiden Nigeria Aviation Hall of Fame, NAHAF, will be instituted tomorrow, Tuesday, 9th of May 2023, as a corollary to the much-touted book launch with the title; Nigeria’s Aviation: Unsung Heroes and Heroines, authored by the duo of Wole Shadare, winner of several aviation awards, and Gboyega Adeoye, an accomplished wordsmith.
The two events will hold at the Providence Hotel, 12A, Oba Akinjobi Street, Government Reservation Area, GRA, Ikeja.

The seven eminent personalities slated for induction at the inaugural edition of the Aviation Hall of Fame, are Captains Bob Hayes, (first Nigerian pilot), Dele Ore, (astute pilot and lawyer), Chinyere Kalu, (first Nigerian female pilot), Jerry Agbeyegbe (late Air safety crusader), erudite aeronautic engineer, Dr. Harold Olusegun Demuren, former President, International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO, Dr. Olumuyiwa Aliu and the first and only Nigerian Airspace lawyer, Dr. Anastesa Gbem.
According to the authors and organizers, the Hall of Fame project is to enable them and their organization “stand in the gap for patriotic aviators to ensure they don’t remain unsung”.The duo pledged that, “we will continue to write about them for record and posterity’s sake. Honour them while here and even induct some of them into the Hall of Fame”.

The book launch will be presided over by Oil magnate, Dr. Diran Fawibe, Group Chairman/CEO, International Energy Services Limited, who has been designated chairman for the book launch while the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu, and the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, will be Special Guest of Honour, respectively.
President of the aviation pressure group, Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative, (ASRTI), Dr. Gabriel Olowo, is the Chief launcher of the book, while His Royal Majesty, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, will be the royal father of the day.

According to the media statement by the authors, other expected dignitaries are: heads of aviation agencies, the Chairman, of the House of Reps Committee on Aviation, Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, airline executives, Chairman of Resort Group, operator of MMA2, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN), Chairman, West Link Airlines, Capt. Ibrahim Mshelia.
