The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has disassociated itself from a statement issued by one Tayo Olu on, 16th May 2020, to the effect that the Federal Government of Nigeria, through FAAN has released a post- COVID 19 travel guideline for air travellers.
In a counter statement by FAAN and signed by its General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Henrietta Yakubu, she stated: “emphatically that although FAAN is carefully and seriously working on a guideline, the guideline released by certain Tayo Olu, did not emanate from FAAN as the authentic guideline is still a work in progress”.
Henrietta statement added that “the Authority will like to enjoin air travellers and the general public to disregard the content of the said fake release”.

The Managing Director, FAAN, Capt Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu, further shed more light on the possible cybercrime committed by the distributor of the unratified guideline said, the usurper named Olu James, most likely intercepted an electronic copy.
He said “FAAN sent out a draft illustrated/designed colour document to all the stakeholders for their consideration and contribution, some days ago. The final edition is scheduled to be adopted next week, (this week) now someone got hold of the draft and extracted the text, but left out the designs/ illustrations…and unilaterally went public” with an uncompleted document.”
Hence the statement assured that “at the appropriate time, FAAN will release the post-COVID-19 travel guidelines via our official communication medium”.
