Embraer, one of the aircraft owned by Enugu Air
The Enugu state government will today flag off air transport as a bold attempt to provide indigenes of the state, southerners, and Nigerians at large with options in the choice of transportation mode for business and leisure.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, will launch the operations of Enugu State Government-owned commercial airline, Enugu Air, this morning, Monday, 7th July 2025, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
A media statement by the state government enthused that, “Enugu Air will take off with an initial fleet of three Embraer aircraft, E170 and E190 series, selected for their efficiency, comfort, and adaptability to the regional market.”
The statement said the airline with its base in Enugu will provide services to “Abuja, Lagos, and subsequently extends to Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, Kano, and other strategic cities across Nigeria and beyond.”
In a unique aviation management approach, Enugu Air’s aircraft fleet will be operated and managed by XeJet airline, which holds a current and valid Air Operators Certificate (AOC).
