FIFA RANKING: Brazil leads the world, Senegal leads Africa

The Samba boys of Brazil and Five times winner of the World Cup who ostensibly is the most successful national team in football history has regained the number one position in the global ranking with 1832.69 points to beat Belgium.

According to the latest ranking released ahead of the 2022 world cup draws, the 2018 World Cup third-placed winner in Russia, Belgium, chalked up a total point of 1827.00 and now occupies the second position.

Current World Champion, France takes the third position with 1789. 85 points. In the fourth position is two times World Cup Champions, Argentina, with 1765.13 points.

The fifth position goes to the Three Lions England who was the 1966 World Cup Champion. England garnered 1761.71 points to rank fifth.

Four times World Cup winner, the Azzuri of Italy ranked the sixth position with 1723. 31 points.
The 2010 World Champion and 2016 European Cup winner, Spain and Portugal ranked the seventh and eighth positions respectively while Mexico and Netherlands, the 1974 and 1978 finalists are ranked ninth and tenth positions respectively.

The highest-ranked national team in Africa is the reigning African Champions, Teranga Lions of Senegal, which is placed in the twentieth position in the global ranking.

Ranked 24th position is the Atlas Lions of Morocco who at the continental level is ranked the number two team in Africa.

In spite of losing out on the World Cup qualifier, the Super Eagles of Nigeria ranked 30 positions in the World, and hold the third best-placed team in Africa.

The Pharaohs of Egypt, Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, Desert Foxes of Algeria and Black Stars of Ghana are in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh positions respectively.
