Hadi Sirika, Daughter, Son-In-Law, granted Bail of N100 million each

Former minister of aviation and aerospace development, Hadi Sirika, and two of his family members accused of N2.7 billion fraud have been granted bail in the sum of N100 million each, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, presided by Justice Sylvanus Oriji.

When the six count charges which included corrupt enrichment involving the sum of N2.7 billion were read to the accused, Hadi Sirika, his daughter, Fatimah, and his son-in-law, Jalal Sule Hamma, they all pleaded not guilty to the alleged corruption charge. Also charged was a firm – Al Buraq Global Investment Limited.

Consequent to the denial of the fraud charge by the accused, their respective lawyers moved applications for their bail which was granted by the judge.

Justice Oriji admitted the three defendants on bail for ₦100m and two sureties each in the like sum.

The sureties must be responsible citizens with verifiable home addresses while one of them must have landed property with a certificate of occupancy signed by the FCT Minister.

The judge ordered that the defendants must not travel out of the country without express permission of the court.

If unable to perfect the bail conditions, Justice Orijin ordered that they should be remanded in prison custody till the time of perfection of bail conditions.

The court fixed Monday, 10th June 2024 for the commencement of the trial.
