Nigeria’s Aeronautical Engineers To Evaluate Aviators Role In the Renewed Hope Agenda

The Institute of Nigerian Aeronautical Engineers, INAES, has concluded arrangements to host in a grand style, the 2025 edition of its International Conference and Annual General Meeting, AGM, scheduled for 21st & 22nd October 2025.

The keynote discourse will be led by the renowned Professor of Aeronautical Engineering, Chris Odetunde, Vice Chancellor of Augustine University, Epe, Lagos State.

The highly revered scholar, teacher, researcher, and administrator will critically appraise the role of aviators, essentially aeronautical engineers, under the Renewed Hope Agenda program of the federal government, and as being driven in relation to the aviation and aerospace industry development and its catalytic impact on the national economy.

Hence, the organisers fittingly themed the event, “Transformation of Aviation Industry In Nigeria; The Role of Aviators- The Aeronautical Engineers”.

The august occasion promises to parade the crème de la crème of distinguished aviators such as Dr Olusegun Harold Demurin, one of the very few Eminent Civil Aviation Legends, ECAL, in Nigeria, Capt Chris Ona Najomo, Director General Civil Aviation, DGCA, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, among other renowned aviators and aviation enthusiasts that will grace the two-day event.

Professor Christopher Odetunde assumed the role of the Vice-Chancellor of Augustine University on Monday, 5th October 2020. Until his appointment as Vice-Chancellor, the Professor of Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering was the former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Kwara State University, Malete.

A native of Oro town in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. Professor Odetunde had his secondary education at St. John’s College, Kaduna, from 1964 to 1968, where he majored in the “Arts”. His switch to pure science subjects came at his A’Levels, which he passed with flying colours between 1969 and 1972.

He then went on to study Aeronautical Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the United States. He went on to acquire other degrees at Iowa State University, Texas A&M University, and the Southeastern Institute of Technology in Alabama. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering, and a Doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering.

Professor Odetunde brings to the university his years of experience as an academic and administrator into the role of Vice-Chancellor.
