His Royal Majesty, The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu
His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has implored all his subjects, including individuals at various levels of the socio-economic ladder, as well as associations and corporate organisations, to celebrate his birthday, which is approaching on Wednesday, 29th October 2025, in a unique and distinctive, manner.
The Oba of Lagos urged all those intending to place congratulatory messages in newspapers, on television stations, or on radio stations to do a rethink, and entreated them to channel such resources toward charitable initiatives instead.
According to a media statement signed by Mr Olanrewaju Bajulaiye, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, His Royal Majesty humbly requests that such goodwill gestures be directed toward:

The purchase of essential drugs and medical supplies for health facilities, including Zenith Iga Idunganran Health Centre, Police Hospital Falomo, Massey Street Children’s Hospital, Lagos Island, and other Primary Health Centres across Lagos Island.
Other investments recommended by the paramount ruler of Lagos include the procurement and installation of solar street lights for mosques and churches across Lagos Island, with priority given to the Oba’s Mosque at Okiti Lane and the Methodist Church on Iga Idunganran Street, Isale-Eko.
Furthermore, His Royal Majesty intends to open a dedicated account to support these charitable purposes. Details will be conveyed in due course.
The statement affirmed that the Oba of Lagos deeply appreciates the continued love and the unflinching support of the people.
The paramount ruler also extends his regards to the entire good people in the state of aquatic splendour.
