The Oyo State Government has announced that arrangements have been concluded to close major routes around Mapo Hall, the venue of the coronation from 7:00 am on Friday, 26th September 2025.

The rationale for the closure was said to secure venue of the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

The organising committee inaugurated by the government to oversee the coronation, also announced on Tuesday some diversions to provide alterne routes for commuters to navigate their itinerary with little or no hindrance.

The affected routes included Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall; Born Photo Junction inwards Oja’ba; Idi-Arere Junction inwards Oja’ba, and Itamerin Junction inwards Mapo Hall.

The routes would be shut to traffic by 7:00 am on Friday, in preparation for the coronation.

Also, the government designated three official car parks for the event at the Ibadan North Local Government Area car park, in front of the Immigration Office, Agodi.

“The second car park is located at the football field beside Yemetu Police Station, while the third car park is at Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado,” the statement read.

According to the statement, the traffic diversions on the routes were due to the planned attendance of President Bola Tinubu at the coronation ceremony.

The committee announced that buses would be provided to convey well-wishers with valid invitation cards to Mapo Hall for the event.

It enjoined all food, drinks, and other vendors to ensure they arrived at the venue between 6 am and 6:45 am.

The committee concluded that only the convoys of President Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde would be allowed to ply the roads leading to Mapo Hall, the venue of the coronation ceremony.
