Passenger gasping for breath slumps dies at Abuja airport

A passenger at the domestic terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja has been announced dead.
The statement from the airport manager, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, said a female passenger on Wednesday, 20th April was waiting to board a Lagos bound flight when she suddenly developed difficulty in breathing at the boarding hall.
The statement said the airport emergency medical team intervened to resuscitate her and deployed the administration of Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, CPR, and Automated External Defibrillator, AED, but all proved abortive.
The statement signed by the Acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs Faithful A. Hope-Ivbaze, affirmed that FAAN had processed millions of passengers through the airport without any such incident over the years hence, “deeply regret that despite spirited efforts by our medical officials to resuscitate her, she was confirmed dead at about 09.06hours.
The media statement in a sympathetic tone expressed FAAN’s “profound condolences to her family and friends on this unfortunate loss and pray that her soul finds rest with the Lord”, the statement said.
The statement however revealed that “her remains were subsequently deposited at the Nigeria Air Force, NAF, Medical Centre, Abuja.
