Quorum Aviation says it possesses valid equipment, personnel licenses

As a move to douse the dangerous rumor making the rounds as to the certification of the crashed Quorum Aviation, Bell 206B3 helicopter, with the Nationality registration Marks 5N-BQW, its management says it complied with all rules of the air charter as stipulated by the regulatory agency, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA.
The media statement issued today, Sunday, 30th August 2020, said regarding the unfortunate helicopter accident which occurred on Friday, 28th August, 2020, that the company had all the requisite certificates and approvals obtained through a very rigorous process.
In the statement signed by one Mr. Wole, it stated that Quorum Aviation Ltd, had a valid Air Operator Certificate (AOC), and the crashed Bell 206B3 helicopter, also had Certificate of Airworthiness (COA) and Insurance.
Quorum Aviation management reiterated that, “all our certificates and approvals are current and valid as issued by the authorities following due process”
It appealed to members of the public especially the media during this difficult time of the company’s chequered history to refrain from conjectures speculations, but instead wait patiently and for the outcome of the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) investigation report into the cause of the mishap.
The management in a mournful tone declared that, “Our thoughts and prayers remains with the families of the departed.”

It will be recalled that various insinuations has rented the air in less than 48 hours after the crash las Friday that the management of Quorum Aviation Ltd, deceived the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, in procuring the current Certificate of Airworthiness, COA, the company brandished as valid.
Others made the claim though without evidence that the helicopter had since the past three years declared as unfit for safe air operation, while other section had also raised eye browse about the insurance certificate of the helicopter.
However, the good news is that the Minister of Aviation, Capt. Hadi Sirika, had assured that the investigation will be done with dispatch and the report made public in record time.
Capt. Hadi Sirika is known for keeping to most of his public utterances especially on project deliveries and there are track record to corroborate this notion.

The delivery of Abuja runway resurfacing and the Omagwa international airport commissioned today are all evidences enough to give members of the public especially industry stakeholders that the investigation report of the crashed helicopter will not be delayed.

AIB is no doubt a very highly revered agency under its new leadership as being led by Engr. Akin Olateru. The agency had proved its mettle in past investigations as it once issued safety recommendations after diligent investigation of similar helicopter crash, and the recommendation became adopted by equipment manufacturer and even influenced the Federal Aviation Administration, FAA, advisory circular on the equipment.
