Randy Nigerian embassy staff embroiled in sex for passport sacked

The Nigerian embassy in Germany has fired one of its local staff, a security guard, Martins Oni, found culpable of sexual abuse and other criminal activities.
Martins Oni travail began early last month, November 2020, when video footage trended on the social media showed Oni in a hotel room half-naked arguing with an unknown person who accused him of demanding sex from females who applied for passport renewals.
When the public uproar generated by the video got overwhelming, the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Yusuf Tuggar¬, directed Martin Oni to proceed on leave and immediately ordered an investigation into the incident.
As a corollary to the imbroglio generated and the outcome from the personnel and disciplinary committee constituted, the Embassy, in a statement yesterday, Tuesday, 8th December, announced that the probe committee found Oni guilty of the allegations.
The statement read inter alia, “The Investigation Committee interviewed Mr. Oni and other witnesses as part of a thorough examination of these very serious charges. It concluded that Mr. Oni was culpable and in violation of all the relevant codes”.
It further stated that, “as a result, Mr Martins Adedeji Oni’s contract with the Embassy as a Local Staff has been terminated.”
The Embassy expressed gratitude to the public for exposing the unethical deeds and conduct of the former employee.
The statement made it clearer that the embassy at all times exhibits zero-tolerance to human right abuse and abuses contravening General Order and foreign service regulations guiding the embassy activities.
The embassy emphasized that its policy towards all abuses of office, and especially of sexual misconduct is sacrosanct and will at all times be respected and apply to all without fear or favour.
Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar is a Nigerian politician and diplomat who since 2017 is the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany. He was previously a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, representing Gamawa; and he had twice run for Governor of Bauchi State.
