MMIA new terminal ready for use 1st quarter 2021- FAAN MD

The newly constructed terminal by Chinese engineers and with a loan from the Chinese Exim bank, the Murtala Muhammed International Airport {MMIA} “supplementary” terminal, will come alive for commissioning by the first quarter of next year, 2021.
The connection between the new terminal and the old one had been effected while finishing touches are being put on the four avio bridges at the new terminal building, in MMIA Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria
House of Representatives aviation committee members oversight visit to the airport revealed impressive progress on the project as its completion is no doubt very imminent.
The Chairman, House of Rep Committee on aviation, Honourable Nnolim Nnaji, commended the management of the Federal Airports Authority, FAAN, for making great strides in the pace of the project.
Speaking at the construction site, Nnaji said his committee members were not armchair legislators but decided to visit project sites and do some mental correlation on the projects and budget approved with the quality and volume of work being done with the taxpayers’ money.
He commended the management of FAAN for the provision of apron linking the two-terminal buildings.
Nnaji reminded FAAN management of that critical infrastructure that impact safety such as, the runway lightings among others, should be given more than the usual attention.
FAAN management also earned a commendation from the legislators for the ongoing construction to deliver a runway that is impeccable and will also enhance safe operations at the terminal.
The committee also visited the cargo terminal and inspected the ultramodern cargo warehouse exclusively for perishable goods. The facility is also being developed by the Chinese Engineering Construction Company, CECC.
FAAN Managing Director, Capt Hamisu Yadudu, said similar warehouse will be constructed in the other three international airports designated for concession.
The airports are, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, and the Port Harcourt International Airport, Port Harcourt.
