The bespoke air transport seminar by LAAC earns agencies’, ministry’s endorsement

The professional body that keeps watching on events in the nation’s air transport sector of the Nigerian economy and which also sounds the alarm when a clear present danger is imminent, the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents of Nigeria, LAAC-N, has put finishing touch to its forthcoming international conference and awards with the theme: ‘Nigeria Aviation Industry: Management, Policy and Regulation.

The event which will take place on 28th July 2021, at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, has been endorsed by the aviation minister, Senator Hadi Sirika and the Director-General, DG, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Capt Musa Nuhu, among others.

The NCAA DG, in a terse statement to endorse LAAC events for their relevance and robust discussion that usually are the feature of such conference by the distinguished league, pledged that “we continue to partner with the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC-N) for a successful outing as scheduled”.

The statement by the DG stated that the partnership was earned by the league because it’s programs are always of relevance and usually add value to the entire air transport value chain.

Capt Nuhu said the NCAA partnership with LAAC-N, “is in line with our resolve to invest in the project(s) that could elicit solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting air travel in the face of the global Covid-19 pandemic and look forward to fruitful deliberations and stronger industry.”

This year’s conference and award is the 25th edition of the event which will hold both virtually and physically. Every participant at the event’s venue is expected to be courteous enough to observe the COVID-19 prevention protocol by wearing a face mask, wash their hands with soap and water, and use hand sanitisers wherever necessary.

A statement by the organizing committee said the conference and awards are expected to be attended by over 250 aviation industry professionals; cutting across the aviation agencies, security agencies, international and domestic airlines operating in Nigeria, aviation support services, travel trade sellers and buyers, and captains of the aviation industry in Nigeria.

Mr Chinedu Eze, the Chairman, LAAC Conference Planning Committee, said that top aviation personalities would deliver insightful papers on a wide range of topical issues in aviation at the annual conference.

According to him, outstanding stakeholders made up of individuals and corporate organizations who have distinguished themselves in the industry would also be honoured with various industry awards at the event.

Eze further stated that the 24th edition of the conference was held virtually on 18th July 2020, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, which crippled lots of global economies.

Aside from the Ministry of Aviation and NCAA that have indicated interest to be part of the event, the following agencies and aviation training institution are also favourably disposed to the international conference; the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria (AIB-N) and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT).

The private sector operators in the various arms of the aviation value chain are also not lagging, such as the airlines, charter operators, ground handlers, insurance firms, management consultants, are all standing to be counted.
