Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, BOSS, has reassured the international business communities, governments of leading industrial nations, and Nigerians in the diaspora that very, very soon, the bold, and laudable economic reform being executed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PBAT, and dubbed, Renewed Hope, which is at its embryo, will soon hatch prosperity for the nation and her citizens.

Sanwo-Olu made the public declaration in London, as a guest on a live interview anchored on Sky News, a frontline British news channel.

He reminded the anchor and the teeming listeners and viewers that the economic logjam President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PBAT, is currently battling to resolve had been in existence for well over a decade hence, PBAT takes the challenge head-long through bold policy innovations, such as the abolition of the fuel subsidy with its far-reaching consequence; requires time to gel and will soon bring smiles back on the faces of Nigerians.

Sanwo-Olu acknowledged that inflation heralded the subsidy removal but assured it would be momentary and added that a substantial fraction of the $2.5 billion saved from the oil subsidy abolition, is being plowed back into the economy through various social provisions to the populace.

He affirmed that Nigerians would soon heave a sigh of relief as the President rolled out more interventions, noting that Tinubu came with a clear strategy to tackle the nation’s economic challenges while pleading with Nigerians to be patient with Mr. President.

The Governor of the biggest economy on the West coast of Africa, Lagos State, urged critics of the federal government to be fair, as six months can’t be enough for the surgery being performed on the deeply damaged economy to heal, and start to run seamlessly as if there was not hemorrhage prior to PBAT’s assumption of office.

BOSS said, “I believe six months is a short term to evaluate President Tinubu’s far-reaching reforms but in terms of the clear strategy and focus, the Tinubu administration is there. What the President has done over the last six months, none of his predecessors had the audacity to do”, he claimed.

Highlighting further the bold steps taken by PBAT, Sanwo-Olu argued thus, “He took the courage and removed subsidy on petrol, which will save the country about $2.5 billion. These are funds that can go into other areas, such as education, health, and social investment. What he brings to the table is more important, having governed Lagos before”.

Sanwo-Olu identified another index of the seriousness of the federal government to revolutionize the nation’s economic landscape, and elevate governance to an ultrahigh level, in the performance bond PBAT made all his ministers sign and the warning to wit. He said such a laudable initiative was a signal that at the Federal Executive Council this time around, it will not be business as usual.

The Governor however pleaded for time for his political mentor, and godfather’s economic agenda to gel saying, “What we are asking from the citizens is to give the President a bit more time. He has a bold, laudable economic agenda, known as Renewed Hope. In the next few months, we will begin to see relief coming out from all of the interventions he has put forward and the country will be better for it.”

  1. The Ls Governor was not honest with his submission of the topic under review. While his principal told Nigerians few days ago via a video clip where he told the world that his administration will curtail the purchasing power of Nigerians. That Nigerians citizens will be heavily taxed to rake in more revenue for the government. Sanwo-Olu failed to educate his audience that PMB left N77tf debt which had been increased to N83tr within five months of BAT ascending to the presidency. He also failed to inform his gullible audience that under his principal watch an imported bullet proof SUV was purchased for 360 House of Representatives members, that N1.5bn was allocated to the office of Remi Tinubu to buy vehicles for her office, a yacht worth N5bn was purchased for the president, humongous amounts were allocated to renovate the VP and the President residence Dodan barrack that was not in use for over two decades. I’m guessing that Sanwo Olu thought Nigerians are foolish and stupid beings that are destined to die in penury while the runners continue to steal the country blind. Please whenever you’re posting new posts on your timeline. Be cautious that your readers are no fools nor gullible people.
