The United States Secretary of State, Anthony J. Blinken, has assured Nigerian President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, BAT, of the US government’s commitment to further strengthening the U.S.-Nigeria relationship with the incoming administration.
The Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken, in a media statement by the spokesperson, Matthew Miller, said in a call to President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, 16th May 2023, assured that “the U.S.-Nigeria partnership is built on shared interests and strong people-to-people ties.”
The statement reiterated that “Those links should continue to be strengthened under President-elect Tinubu’s administration.”
Spokesperson Matthew Miller said that the Secretary, Blinken, and President-elect, Tinubu, discussed “the importance of inclusive leadership that represents all Nigerians, continued comprehensive security cooperation, and reforms to support economic growth,” Blinken urged.
President-elect Bola Tinubu will be sworn in on Monday, 29th May 2023.
