Caverton Helicopter
Management of Caverton Helicopters has been put on notice of picketing the company unannounced because all the measures for the amicable resolution of the lingering impasse have been thwarted.
A media statement issued by the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN, and signed by its Principal Deputy General Secretary, PDGS, Comrade Frances Akinjole, accused Caverton management of willfully withholding her members’ checkoff dues since 2023.
The workers’ union also accused Caverton of ingloriously laying off one of its staff, Olayinka Jinadu, in June 2022, despite numerous correspondents requesting payment of his severance allowance, Caverton management hasn’t deemed it fit to be paid.
The helicopter chartering company was accused of failure to remit the worker’s contributions to his pension fund which were deducted throughout the period he was in the company’s employment.

The union however argued that the non-remittance had made it impossible for the sacked worker to access his retirement savings account, RSA, to care for his failing health.
Hence, the union summed its request thus, “It is in this regard we are seriously advising your organization to settle the outstanding exit pay, and the unremitted pension of comrade Olayinka Jinadu, and also clear all our union’s unjustifiably withheld check-off dues”.
The caveat added to the statement says, the union ultimatum subsists and “whenever we are ready to pull the trigger for the ultimate action, either alone or jointly with other victimized unions will be done without further notice”
ATSSSAN said when the union is ready, what it described as frivolous court injunctions from Caverton Helicopters will not prevail unless all outstanding commitments are settled without much ado.
However, the union chronicled efforts made since 2022 when the altercation about the arbitrarily sacked staff started thus, “various appeals and especially our letters of 14th July 2023; 20th September 2023, and 23rd November 2023 yet, the last we heard from your organization was in your letter dated December 4th, 2023 wherein you claimed to have prioritized outstanding payments to the ex-staff in December 2023”, and until today, no dice.
