AERONAUTICS COLLEGE RESORTS TO VIRTUAL TEACHING OF CURRICULUM AS LOCKDOWN GETS PROTRACTED

The Management of International College of Aeronautics, Lagos, Nigeria, has begun engaging its students during this protracted lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, with academics activities via virtual lecture not from its Lagos campus alone but also externally from its affiliate institution, the Jagora University, Cameroon
According to a post by Rector of the quintessential aviation college, Engr Solomon Adio, 40 students of the International College of Aeronautics were taking on in virtual lectures in various aspects and stages of their courses by the technological oriented Jagora University in Cameroun.
Engineer Adio alluded to this measure as one of the advantages students stand to benefit when they enrol with ICA as they will gain all international exposure crucial to the theorem being taught to complement the mandatory hours required of students to acquire on practical/hands-on the aspects of their courses.
In appreciating the representative of Jagora University involved in the collaboration with ICA Nigeria, Dr Mahamouda Salouhou, Engr Adio said “I want to appreciate you and your dedicated team at Jagora University for providing a free online course in aviation to all our students (about 40 of them) during this pandemic lockdown. We have received very positive feedback from our students. Thank you for your gesture”.
Engr Adio further revealed that “Jagora University is collaborating with ICA in Lagos, to deliver degrees and certificates in numerous fields some of which are:
- Associate of Applied Science Degree,
- Associate of Applied aircraft Maintenance Degree for a duration of 2 years but could be done in 4 semesters.
While articulating the academic philosophy of the Cameroonian University which informed the collaboration with ICA, Adio stated that “The mission of Jagora University is to collaborate with other Cameroonian and international public or private universities and schools to contribute to the development of employment and jobs creation through curriculum innovation, vocational education, capacity building and joint degree programs”. Jagora University offers degrees and certificates programs online as well as instructor-led.
The vision of ICA is to develop entrepreneurs instead of job seekers through aviation training services and its mission is to provide quality aviation education services and career opportunities for our students in the emerging aviation industry in Nigeria”
To this end, the college presently is affiliated to numerous training schools and university of repute such as Zenith Aircraft Company in Mexico, Missouri where its students learn to build a complete flyable experimental aircraft during their entire training.
And at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, where its students start their training and gain full access and opportunity to continue their education at Spartan.
ICA is also affiliated to Gleim Aviation in the USA, which offers Online ground school courses in Sport Pilot, Private Pilot, Instrument Rating and Commercial Pilot courses. These schools are specifically approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to teach certain courses in a structured and organized way – ensuring highest level of student training possible for students who desire a “classroom-style” experience without having to leave home.
