As the Murtala Mohammed Airport domestic terminal runway 18Left/36Right, comes alive, FAAN gives kudos to her team and especially the Minister, Hadi Sirika, for facilitating the revalidation, and the appropriation of funds for the execution of the project.

The Murtala Mohammed Airport, MMA, is now “armed to the hilt” for smooth, safe, and economical night flight operations.

Moreover, the management of the terminal has expressed gratitude to domestic operators under the aegis of Airlines Operators of Nigeria, AON, and to other stakeholders for their perseverance and cooperation.

Hence, the Management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, in a media statement extends her gratitude to every other stakeholder of all shades, who believed in the FAAN team ably led by Capt. Hamisu Rabiu Yadudu, an indefatigable leader, to deliver on the fixing of the airfield lightings of Runway 18Left/36Right at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

A media statement issued by FAAN and signed by Faithful A. Hope-Ivbaze (Mrs.), its Ag General Manager, Corporate Affairs, announced the Runway has since been availed operators to enable them to maximize their operating expenses and have a new narrative as the festive season is fast approaching.

The statement said, “the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has reopened the domestic runway of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos to flight operations”.

Hope-Ivbaze, added that “the Authority uses this opportunity to express her appreciation to our stakeholders, particularly the airline operators, for their perseverance, cooperation, and collaboration while the project lasted.

The statement further rekindled hope thus, “with the project satisfactorily completed, the Runway can now be used for flight operations as necessary safety infrastructure e.g. approach lights, runway threshold lights, runway centerline lights, runway edge lights have all been fully installed”, said Hope-Ivbaze.

Hence night operations would soon become an integral part of the scheduling of flight operations by the airlines.
