FRSC BEGINS FACE MASK PRODUCTION FOR CIRCULATION AMONG ITS RANK AND FILE

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has begun mass production of customized face mask for personnel in its rank and file as a means to protecting them against contra,cting the dreaded COVID-19 and avoiding its life-threatening effect.

According to a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, the directive of the Corps Marshal for the production was in response to the recommendation of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government should procure and distribute locally made face masks for use by their staff as part of efforts to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.

The statement further said that in cognizance to the new policy by the federal government hence, the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, directed the tailoring unit of the Corps to commence immediate and speedy mass production and distribution of customized face masks for Officers and Marshals of the Corps nationwide due to the critical role the Corps plays in the ongoing enforcement of the National restriction order”.

The media statement said the management of FRSC was approaching with dispatch the production of Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, because of its personnel being at the front line in the enforcement of the Presidential restriction order on COVID-19, are exposed and due to the tendency of coming in contact with different categories of people including carriers of the infectious disease, deserved to adopt all precautionary measures, especially the constant use of face masks while discharging their statutory functions.

The statement added that medical experts had certified the production process and the products- face mask- while the corps leadership had fine-tuned its distribution channels to enable all officers nationwide receive adequate supplies for use thus preserving lives.

It will be recalled that at the onset of the COVID-19 index case in the country, the Corps Marshal had proactively supervised the distribution among the rank and file, alcohol-based sanitizers and the conventional medical face masks to staff nationwide.
