LASDRI offers specialized training to LASAMBUS drivers

The Lagos State Drivers Institute, LASDRI, has flagged off a four-day Structured Training program for professional drivers in the employment of Lagos State Ambulance Service, (LASAMBUS).

The training is ongoing at the Institute’s Headquarters in Oshodi.

While setting the tone for the course laced with state of the art training equipment such as a simulator, and rich content in road safety signage, traffic laws and regulations, among others, the General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs Afusat Tiamiyu, urged participants to pay more than the usual attention to each of the resource persons as they come up for their parts.

She said the training was an opportunity for the drivers irrespective of their years of experience in safe driving, to further learn, unlearn and re-learn driving techniques that will ensure the smooth running of their day-to-day official duties.

She said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu placed a very high value on human lives hence, the heavy investment in the institute to enable it to discharge its duties efficiently and to positively impact the participants.

The GM emphasized that the program was to impart to participants the skills of defensive driving and the consciousness to be twice careful in protecting the lives of other road users, the patient in the ambulance and that of the driver also.

Mrs Tiamiyu urged “all participants to imbibe the culture of a responsible, responsive and professional manner of driving the ambulance that will be imparted on participants during the training”.

Responding, the LASAMBUS Drivers’ Coordinator, Mrs Azeezat Ogoma, an Assistant Chief Admin and Human Resource Officer, Lagos State Ministry of Health, expressed gratitude to the management of LASDRI for the rich training modules lined up for the participants.

She added that the drivers were brought to the Institute to acquire specialized skills for the proper usage, protection and maintenance of the newly acquired ambulance vehicles in the fleet of LASAMBUS.
