LASTMA pledges to eliminate traffic hiccups around TBS during the Trade Fair

Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has entered into a partnership with the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, with assurance to eliminate traffic hiccups during the forthcoming trade fair from 4th to 13th November 2022, at the Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, Lagos Island.
Mr Bolaji Oreagba, General Manager of LASTMA made this known during a courtesy visit by officials of LCCI to LASTMA’s Headquarters at Oshodi, Lagos, stressing that LASTMA is ready to participate fully with relevant stakeholders towards having a free flow of traffic in and around the Tafawa Balewa Square axis, venue of the International Trade Fair.
Oreagba said, “the Lagos International Trade Fair would boost global and regional trade for start-up brands, big industries, tech hubs, multinational companies and strengthen existing foreign partnership tiers to support African trade”.
He assured his guests that LASTMA “would not leave any stone unturned as the Fair would attract more vehicular and human traffic (Local & International) around the area than usual”, and they must be well managed he added.The LASTMA helmsman commended the management of LCCI for sustaining the annual international trade event for over four decades now.
Engr. Musbau Opeyemi Aminu, leader of the delegation and Chairman, the Operations Committee, LCCI, thanked the management and staff of LASTMA for their continuous support towards the successful hosting of the International Trade Fair annually in Lagos.
Engr. Aminu said “the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) aimed to ensure the Fair enables businesses to meet sales targets, boost trade volume, eliminate market restrictions and integrate wider markets for more investment”, he stated.
He assured that security and traffic management plans including the ‘Chain of Command’ would be developed to assist in assigning responsibilities to individual stakeholders participating in the fair.
Present at the meeting were Mr Awotungase Adelaja (LASTMA Zebra 38); Mr Adebanjo Alaba (LASTMA Commander); Mr Ayuba Akinpelu (LASTMA Comptroller Central); Mr Apena Biliaminu (LASTMA Provost Marshall); Mr Adebayo Taofiq (Director, LASTMA Public Affairs & Enlightenment Department), Mr David Aturamu (LCCI Senior Tech. Manager) and Aare (Dr.) Rotimi Isola (LCCI Security/Safety Coordinator).
