New Terminal at MMIA for Commissioning in March- Hamisu Yadudu

The newly built terminal by the Chinese from Chinese loan at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, and whose contract is being executed by the Chinese Construction Company, China Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC, will be commissioned by March 2022.

According to the Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Capt Hamisu Rabiu Yadudu, the new complementary terminal construction at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, MMIA, had reached 98 per cent completion.

Yadudu said that the new terminal will be commissioned before the end of the month of March 2022 to expand the capacity of the MMIA and provide exquisite comfort to its highly esteemed passengers.

He highlighted some factors that had since been militating against the terminal to achieve its mandate.

Those factors inhibiting the airport from attaining the top-notch service delivery it desires were, global economic depression, which had adversely affected revenue generation, gave rise to accumulation of debts, induced rising operating and maintenance costs, amongst others.

In his response, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Smart Adeyemi, commended FAAN for all the agency was able to achieve despite the challenges posed by Covid-19.

He charged the management of FAAN to work harder to improve airport security using technology, and also ensure that her human resources are well motivated.

The Chairman, House of Representatives Aviation Committee, Honourable Nnolim Nnaji, advised that the new international terminal in Lagos should be reopened as soon as possible since Lagos is the most patronized gateway in the nation
