TWO AIRCRAFT COLLIDE MID-AIR, NO SURVIVOR AMONG THE OCCUPANTS

A single-engine light aeroplane involved in a mid-air collision, the Piper, crashed into a field east of Runway 30-Right, in flame

Two aircraft have collided midair in the United States, over the North Las Vegas Airport in which all the occupants in both aircraft died and a total haul loss was experienced.

Reports from the control tower revealed that one of the planes had begun preparation to land when it was struck by the other aircraft which was at high speed and caused both to ignite which brought a hail of smoke that burst into flames.

Video Footage circulating online shows the mangled remains of one of the planes smouldering on the sun-scorched tarmac, and a thick plume of smoke billowing up into the sky.

Las Vegas Police had few hours after the crash on Sunday, confirmed the fatalities, and added that the Federal Aviation Administration, FAA, and the National Transportation Safety Board, NTSB, had commenced investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the crash with the view to proffering fool proof recommendations to prevent future re-occurrence.

The Cessna fell into a water retention pond.

However, a very terse statement by the FAA said, ‘’Preliminary information indicates that the Piper PA-46 was preparing to land when it collided with the Cessna 172.’’

The statement said further that, ‘’the Piper crashed into a field east of Runway 30-Right and the Cessna fell into a water retention pond.’’

Furthermore, a statement from the Clark County Department of Aviation revealed that ‘there were no survivors.’


Although officials were yet to identify those aboard the ill-fated aircraft, who reportedly were declared dead at the scene.


The Police report said two passengers were in each of the aeroplanes and all four souls died in the crash
