The South Africa-Nigeria Aviation Forum launched a little over 60 days ago, has made a giant stride in its bilateral relations as South Africa has succeeded in securing a market in Nigeria for its Jabiru Aircraft Series.
Dr. Bobby Moroe, South Africa’s Consul-General to Nigeria, announced his success in marketing SA products and the purchase by Nigeria, of the light aircraft produced in George Town, South Africa.
Excited Moroe on his Instagram announced thus; @bobbymoroe; “On 18 February 2023, we launched the SA-Nigeria Aviation Forum. Today we are proud to announce the procurement of the Jabiru Series Type Aircraft by Nigeria. The Aircraft is manufactured in SA and will be assembled in Nigeria. The acceptance certificate process is underway in George, Western Cape, by the Nigerian CAA”. #SA-NigeriaAviationForum2023.
However, efforts to make a few clarifications were not successful as neither responses of emails to the South African embassy were received nor the inquiries to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, were responded to before the Eid el-Fitr holiday commenced.

Be reminded the South African Consulate started today, hosting South Africa Week, Saturday, 22nd April 2023. The weeklong event is to showcase the array of success stories of Nigeria-South Africa bilateral trade and diplomatic relations and also bring to the fore other prospects of mutual benefits that could be responsibly explored.
Activities of the week will end on Saturday, 29th April 2023. By then, the event would have provided a veritable avenue to celebrate the 29 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Nigeria-South Africa, as well as celebrate 29 years of democracy in South Africa.
ABOUT JABIRU SOUTH AFRICA AIRCRAFT SERIES
According to the manufacturer; “Jabiru aircraft are used for recreational flying, flight training, rural property management, commuting, surveillance and surveying.
Jabiru airframes are manufactured using Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) technologies. It is a system that offers lightweight at the same time as high structural integrity, and clean aerodynamic design.
The Jabiru aircraft is powered by a Jabiru 4-cylinder 4 stroke 2200 cc or a 6-cylinder 3300 cc air-cooled engine. This Australian-designed and manufactured engine has been developed specifically for use in the Jabiru aircraft and is fitted with dual electronic ignition.
