National theatre undergoing $100m renovation renamed, to host UN event in November

The National Arts Theatre which is being renovated at the cost of $100million has been renamed, “Lagos Creative and Entertainment Center” and its already scheduled to host a parley by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, UNWTO, from 14th -17th November 2022.
The Minister of Information, Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the announcement in Madrid, Spain, at a meeting with the leadership of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, UNWTO.
After signing the agreement to host the Global Conference on Cultural Tourism and Creative Industry, he announced the new name, “Lagos Creative and Entertainment Center” the edifice will bear immediately on completion.
Alhaji Mohammed highlighted some of the unique features of the renovated facility when completed thus, “)hubs are being constructed within the premises for fashion, Information, technology, film and music” he said.
He announced the Lagos State Mass Train Transit, the blue line would be commissioned ahead of the UNWTO event in November.
Lai Mohammed further said, “the Lagos surface rail system, to serve the National Theatre, will be commissioned ahead of the conference”.
The 45 years old edifice, National Arts Theatre, is being renovated at a cost of $100m under a partnership between the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Bankers’ Committee and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
